What a morning already on Sunday with !

This morning we crossed the Continental Divide and headed to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica in Limón Province for an incredible river rafting adventure. After working up an appetite on the river, we enjoyed a wonderful local lunch... but the wildlife may have stolen the show.

From the river, we spotted monkeys in the trees, and at lunch we were treated to an unforgettable sight: a mama sloth carefully carrying her baby, estimated to be only about a month old, as they slowly made their way through the canopy. As if that wasn't enough, we also found a brilliantly colored poisonous dart frog!

Not bad for the first half of the day. 🌿🐒🦥🐸

Now we're making our way to Arenal, and if Costa Rica has taught me anything so far, it's to always keep looking up... and sometimes down!

Next up: Life jackets on. Paddle in hand. Time for an adventure.

Today we headed to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica for a river rafting experience through the lush rainforest of Limón Province. One of the things I love most about travel is stepping outside of my normal routine and saying “yes” to experiences that become memories.

Costa Rica has a way of making you feel connected to nature. Every turn seems to reveal something new—towering trees, tropical birds, rushing water, and the incredible biodiversity that makes this country so special.

I’m excited to see what wildlife decides to make an appearance along the river today before we continue on to Arenal later this evening.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years—whether in a classroom, leading groups, or traveling the world—is that I naturally seem to gravitate toward helping organize, guide, and bring people together.

Maybe it’s the former educator in me. Maybe it’s the math teacher who always wanted everyone to know where they were going and what came next. 😊(Vertical alignment was my passion in the years I taught every level from 6th grade thru PreCalculus!).

Apparently, old habits die hard because before boarding our motorcoach this morning, I somehow ended up with the group sign in my hand and couldn’t resist a quick selfie. The fact that our amazing guide photobombed the picture made it even better!

Today we’re off for river rafting before making our way to beautiful Arenal. Adventure, laughter, new friendships, and a little bit of organized chaos—just the way a great journey should begin.
