We had some wild weather come through New England yesterday and it’s gonna take a day or two for the seas to calm down…

You also probably heard that there was a sonic boom when a meteor entered the atmosphere right over us… it was loud!

the question I have: what did the whales do when that happened?

I think they all breached.
What do you think they did?

This is Jabiru and Pele playing what I like to call leapfrog (from Thursday).

Thanks Lindsay Hirt for capturing yesterday’s amazing curious approach

Seriously, what are you waiting for!?

Get on the boat.

Please note: as always, we adhere to the whale watching guidelines for our area. The whale approached us and we shut down and floated until it was a safe distance away.

We went out looking for nature, and nature swam right up to check our vibe-
An epic curious approach from a juvenile humpback whale on today’s whale watch!

Seriously, what are you waiting for!?

Get on the boat.

Please note: as always, we adhere to the whale watching guidelines for our area.

This year from Gloucester to Cape Cod boats are experiencing a number of curious approaches where the whales are curious and approach the boat- during these encounters, the boats shut off their engines and float until the whale is safely away from the vessel.

In this image, the boat is not moving and the whale swam up to it, giving our passengers, truly, a once in a lifetime experience to come eye to eye with a humpback whale.

Honestly, you have to wonder who’s watching whom here? And why are so many whales in different age classes and both sexes displaying so much of this behavior this spring?

Your guess is as good as ours, but we love it.

Fantastic capture Capt David!

Saturday morning the seas were like glass
& we started our trip with a cow -calf pair, Arroyo and her new calf.

As we sat floating watching the pair, they started to show some curiosity-the calf kept coming closer and closer to the point that Mom and calf were circling our boat, sometimes raising their heads out of the water, spyhopping, & rolling on their side. Then they just floated there with their heads towards us side-by-side.

Looking at the pictures of mom & calf, you can see some similarities between their dorsal fins.

We had some very lucky first time whale watchers on board and I think it’s fair to say they are hooked!

Get on a boat.
