Hello Everybody. After 8 wonderful years of hosting Cottage in the Mountains, we have moved back to Idaho to be closer to family. We didn't feel like we could manage our beloved vacation rental from that distance, so we reluctantly sold it. The new owners said they plan to live in the home and do some renovations, then also use it as a vacation rental. Thank you all who have shared your family memories over the years. It was a joy to host our mountain cottage with many wonderful guests over the years.

I am at the house again tonight. I got here late after dark. We have water. There is a boil order to drink the tap water, but it is nice and clear and fine for everything else. I will know more about what is going on in town tomorrow after I've had a chance to walk around, see things and talk to people.

I was able to make it to the house today. The road from Billings (Hwy 212) is open. When I came into town that way, you wouldn't know anything has happened. Some downtown businesses were closed, but most were open. The flood didn't affect the downtown strip. The road to the Beartooth Highway is closed. South of the house a few blocks and East of the house by Rock Creek is where the flood reeked havoc. There are stacks of bottled water packs everywhere for people to take for free. At the Town Pump, somebody was serving free hamburgers and bratwursts. I saw one homeowner who was affected taking things out of her flooded basement. I asked her if I could help her, and she thanked me, but said she just needed to do one thing at a time. She said they were able to save 80% of their things, and it was all replaceable. We are so thankful that our home was not affected and sad for those who have been affected.

Dear Friends of Red Lodge Mountain Cottage. Thank you to those who have reached out to us today. So far, we have been very fortunate. Our home has not been affected by the flood other than we had no water because they shut down the water to the city. The flood was 2 blocks away, but hasn't reached the house. Hopefully it will stay away! Sadly, we were unable to go to the house today because nobody could get in or out of Red Lodge. The road to the south was closed because the flood washed the bridge out. The road to the north was closed due to flooding. Thankfully, Mic from Back Alley Metals watched over our home for us and kept us up to date. Hopefully we will be able to make it there tomorrow, and help out where needed. Thank you for your prayers and support. We feel so thankful yet sad for the many who were affected. We will be there to help where we can.

It is officially snowing! We got over 6" yesterday and it was still snowing:) We got the Christmas tree up and the house ready for the holidays. Happy skiing/boarding!

We are giving healthcare workers who stay at our home a 10% discount during this challenging time.

In response to COVID-19, we have increased our already-strict cleaning standards. We are following all CDC guidelines for cleaning and even going above and beyond those guidelines. Below are some of the increased cleaning measures we are taking above and beyond our regular cleaning routine.

-If you are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, shortness of breath, cough, unusual fatigue, unusual aches and headaches, sore throat), do not stay in our home. Any cancellations due to illness will receive a full refund up to the time of your stay.

-Every surface in the home is cleaned and then sanitized.

-All laundry is now being completed on the hot setting.

-All blankets, throws and pillows are either washed or at least dried on the hot setting for a minimum of 30 minutes.

-Clorox sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer are left out for guest use.

If you have any questions about our cleaning practices, feel free to ask. We would be happy to answer them for you.

Red Lodge is a great place to vacation with many outdoor activities. Enjoy the beauty of the outdoors!
