Tuesday sailing through Glacier Bay. Forecast was rain but we had wonderful weather instead. Saw some otters and a whale’s tail but too quick to capture a picture. Did get a lovely 🌈
Don’t let what looks like a sunset fool you. That was at 9pm last night. We are having 23 hours of daylight. The only dark I’ve seen seen June 3rd was in a tunnel on the wilderness train last Saturday traveling from Denali to Whittier.

Left on June 3 for three day land tour and 7 night cruise on the Grand Princess with my family for our grandson’s graduation. It has been wonderful.
We had sunny days while at the Mt. McKinley Lodge and the Denali Princess Lodge. Great food and the meal plan saved us a ton of 💰💰
The 10 hour ride on the Dome Train was very comfortable unlike the trip on the airplane. The scenery was amazing and we saw several moose but it’s too quick to capture a picture.
They actually cook your meals on the train, not packed and reheated. Our two waiters were wonderful. One knew tons of corny jokes.
There was rain when we arrived in Whittier to board but none since then.
Almost to Glacier Bay now.

Important update for anyone traveling to the UK in the 2025. The new ETA (electronic travel authorization) will be in effect.
The ETA is a digital pre-travel authorisation required for most visitors to the UK, including those from previously visa-exempt countries.
- It costs £10 and is valid for multiple entries over two years.
- Key dates:
* 27 Nov 2024: Applications open for non-Europeans
* 8 Jan 2025: Mandatory for non-European travellers
* 5 Mar 2025: Applications open for Europeans
* 2 Apr 2025: Mandatory for European travellers

A good article recommending longer layovers than recommended by an airline. I would rather have clients with longer layovers enjoying a meal than looking at their watch praying they are going to make the next flight.

Be sure to download the Mobile Passport Control or MPC app for international travel. It saved our team returning from Ecuador via Miami a ton of time clearing customs. The MPC line was faster than the global entry line.
You will complete your customs questions and submit. You will them have a confirmation on your phone for the customs officer. Easy Peasy!
