Castles, royal palaces, ancient villages, cobblestone streets, and centuries of stories around every corner. You’re not just sightseeing, it's like you've stepped back in time!! 🕰️

And YES...I have to agree on this.From the Scottish Highlands, the rugged coastlines of Devon, and the little seaside towns, it can feel like a fairy tale book. 😍

Paignton Harbour, the pier, the beach, the colourful seafront… it’s one of those places where families come for a day out, friends meet for a wander, children have the freedom to play, and memories seem to make themselves.

It’s a favorite of mine too. ❤️

And there’s more history here than you realise…

🎡 Paignton Pier opened in 1879 and stretches around 780ft out into the bay. It was designed by Victorian architect George Soudon Bridgman.

🎭 The pier once hosted a performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore in 1880!

🔥 The original pier-head was destroyed by fire in 1919, and during WWII the pier was actually sectioned as a defence measure because of fears of invasion.

⚓ Paignton Harbour has an even older story, with the harbour established in the 18th century and Paignton having a long history as a fishing community.

🚂 Then came the railway in 1859, which helped visitors could get to Paignton easily.

And today?

It’s ice creams, sandy toes, boats bobbing in the harbour, children laughing, a walk along the pier, fish and chips, and watching the world go by.

Maybe that’s what I love about places like Paignton.

They don’t have to be complicated.

Sometimes travel is simply finding a place that makes you feel happy to be there. ❤️

LGBTQ+ History Month began with a history teacher. In January 1994, Rodney Wilson, in the Mehlville School District near St. Louis, Missouri, drafted a proposal for what he then called Le***an and Gay History Month.

Earlier that year, while teaching a lesson on the Holocaust, Wilson came out to his students, becoming the first known openly gay public school teacher in Missouri.

This moment convinced him that young people needed to learn that LGBTQ+ had always been part of history, and that their stories deserved a place on the curriculum.

LGBTQ+ History Month runs from Thursday, 1 October to Saturday, 31 October 2026 in the United States, and it is observed every October.

It is recognised in schools, universities, libraries, museums and workplaces across the country, and is now marked in roughly 20 countries worldwide, from Italy to Cuba to New Zealand.

The United Kingdom, Hungary and a handful of other nations observe their own LGBT History Month in February.

I recently booked a Conscious Adventure for Amanda. She didn’t just travel to Kenya… she stepped into it. 🌍✨

Francis Sikuku and Light of Future Foundation showed Amanda farming and sustainability, spending time with families and communities, and seeing first hand how travel can become part of something bigger.

I came in with a couple of unforgettable safari moment a surrounded by Kenya’s incredible wildlife, and for me her trip was travel with both heart AND fun.

I enjoy creating trips that allow people to experience a place, connect with its people, support meaningful local work, and leave knowing their presence mattered in different ways ❤️
