This is how we fight tuna during their final moments. Properly tuned gear helps to ensure the fish makes it in the boat quickly. This 100lb tuna was brought in the boat in about 8 minutes. Phenix Rods Axis 130-200lb and PENN Fishing 50VISX putting in the heavy lifting. RAP Systems LLC allows us to control the fish and get leverage.

Found some fish away from the fleet on live bait again. We also had 3 other solid bites that didn’t stay connected. The offshore weather looks terrible for at least the next week so be sure to get on our call list for the next weather window.

Fished out of Seward with Captain Dave from yesterday. We sent it 70 miles offshore in search of big halibut in less than ideal conditions. The day started off slow but after some chumming within a couple hours the bite turned on. and I of course landed the biggest halibuts on the boat and a yellow eye for each of us. I was the only one jigging and hooked 2 halibut and a yellow eye on the jig. Our honeymoon is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings.
