Here’s your chance! On Saturday, 9/12, the Schenectady County Run the Runway 5K returns to Schenectady County Airport, giving runners, walkers and aviation enthusiasts the rare opportunity to hit the actual runway! ✈️

You'll take on the same runway used by the New York Air National Guard’s 109th Airlift Wing
and its famous LC-130 “Ski Birds,” which are specially equipped to land on Antarctic ice. 🤯
👟 FREE 1-mile fun run for kids 12 & under
🛩️ FREE admission to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum after the race
⏰ 5K starts at 10 am
🎟️ 5K registration: $35

Have you spotted one of these colorful mini murals while exploring the city? In 2024, Create Community Studios collaborated with Schenectady Metroplex and talented local artists to bring a little more color, creativity and brightness to Schenectady. Through the Mini Mural Project, over 40 ordinary electrical boxes have been transformed into unique works of public art — adding personality to our streets and showcasing the creativity of our local arts community.

And the project continues to grow! 🖌️ Seven MORE boxes have recently been transformed by local artists, adding even more colorful masterpieces throughout the city.

We love projects like this that showcase our talented local arts community while making Schenectady an even more vibrant and welcoming place to explore.
