Have you seen this sailboat anchored in Elliott Bay? Yes, you read that right: sailboat. Those 4 pillars on the tanker Maersk Trieste are 79ft tall suction wings called “eSAILS”. The air flows through them to create lift and they automatically rotate to the direction of the wind. These were just installed on the vessel earlier this year to help with fuel savings. What’s old is new again!
