With a diverse fleet of small expedition ships that go where others can’t, we offer travelers unparalleled access to the most remote places on earth, filled with unforgettable off-ship adventures led by our experienced team of polar experts. The spirit of exploration runs deep in our polar pedigree, and we are passionate about creating life-changing experiences for our fellow polar explorers.

From exploring 1,000-year-old Viking ruins to a remote helicopter landing in pristine wilderness, here's Justin's unforgettable Day 3 from his recent South Greenland expedition with us:

“From walking through Viking history to landing by helicopter in the middle of the Greenlandic wilderness… this was quite a day.
We began in Qassiarsuk, once known as Brattahlíð, the settlement established by Erik the Red more than a thousand years ago. We explored the remains and reconstructions of its Norse buildings, stood beneath the statue of his son Leif Erikson, and wandered through a landscape where Viking history, colourful homes and modern sheep farms now sit side by side.

It was already a remarkable morning, but then came my first wilderness helicopter landing. 🚁

Flying above vast mountains, ice-filled fjords and glaciers was almost impossible to comprehend from the air. Then we landed on a remote rocky ridge and stepped out to find ourselves overlooking an immense frozen landscape with absolutely nothing around us.

No roads. No buildings. Just ice, mountains, and a little yellow helicopter 💛

It was exhilarating, humbling, and completely mind-blowing. The kind of experience that makes you feel very small, but incredibly lucky to be there. Greenland somehow raised the bar again.” – Justin Petrass ()

It’s always incredible to see how days like these create memories of a lifetime for our guests.
