The story of this picture is unbelievable!
This was about 5-6 years ago. We went out on a Sedona Sunset tour with an older Korean couple and their daughter. That day, the sky was grey on grey, with thick clouds. There was not even a remote possibility that the sun would come out at Sunset.
I felt so bad for the guests. The father was so disappointed as he was looking so much forward for this tour.
I knew from my experience of 30 years living in Sedona that sometimes the sun burst open right at sunset, with an unbelievable explosion of breathtaking color show! But I didn't want yo say anything, because you never can predict.
We were at Rachel's Knoll. It was 5 minutes before sunset. It was freezing, with some drizzle. Grey sky, thick clouds! The father almost crying with disappointment!
Him and his wife gave up, sitting in the car as it was freezing. Me and the daughter were walking around. I was telling her to wait, give it a chance, I don't promiss a sunset but I know from experience....
It was already a minute after sunset. As we were walking around, I saw a sliver of light peaking through the clouds on the western horizon. I said - look!!
And, then, within seconds, that sliver of light grew, and opened into an unbelievable, breathtaking, out of this world light show!! I had never seen anything like it in my 30 years living in Sedona!
The parents were still sitting in the car, further down slope, so they couldn't see what was going on.
Me and the daughter ran to the car, calling them to come up, now!! First they said it's too cold and they didn't want to come out.
I said, you HAVE to see this! I have blankets!! They covered themselves, got out of the car and... screamed! Flabbergasted!!
They have never ever imagined to see this unbelievable, almost outerworldly light show! Me neither!! We were all screaming with excitement and awe!
I was so happy for them!! So so happy! Since then the daughter always keeps in touch. That moment bonded us!
💖 And so, THAT experience with people, is the ONLY reason I do my tours! For me, it was never a business!! That's why I never even thought of asking for "reviews".
I started this tour "business" in 2006. It was and still is a passion. I met thousands of people over the years, and had THOUSANDS of such love stories!
