What really sets Virgin Voyages apart from other cruise lines is that they have hammocks on most of their balcony staterooms. Some locations far forward don’t have them, but they are a really unique and comfortable feature! 

I used my hammock more than I thought I would and actually fell asleep on my balcony. If you’re sailing to a warm tropical location, these are a great way to relax away from the music and crowds up top!

This was a first! On every other cruise line I’m usually able to slide my closed empty suitcase under the bed and not have to pull it out for a week.

In this case, my colleague and I had to leave ours folded open and slide it under the bed, which is fine if you want to use it as a laundry hamper, but I thought it was interesting that the beds weren’t 2 inches higher to accommodate most large suitcases.

It didn’t distract from the cruise at all, I just found it interesting!

Holland America “Guaranteed Verandah” Balcony stateroom tour 🚢

This is exactly why I as a travel agent do not book Guaranteed Veranda’s for my clients. I would never place a client this far forward because the wind was absolutely insane and roaring at night. I would position my clients midship or aft.

However, for such a short cruise this room was very comfortable inside and perfect for two people!

I had high expectations sailing on Celebrity Xcel last January and am thankful to say that the ship and its crew exceeded my expectations!
