Well our ferry crew Captain Bracy, and deckhand Jesse E has done their good deed for the day after noticing a sea bird known as a Cormorant in a dangerous life threatening situation for the bird, they exhausted all efforts to contact wildlife rescue, however Wildlife rescue had no one in area. so our crew then took on the task of rescuing this bird, bird was unable to fly or move as it was wrapped in fishing line with a mackerel tree with lure attached. The bird was safely caught using company skiff they threw blanket over bird wrapped bird in blanket secured the bill so crew could safely cut the line and untangled the bird without it causing harm to our crew as their bills are razor sharp, the bird was then safely released and flew away unharmed.

In anticipation of a slower day due to fog and weather We are using our smaller boat M/V First light as the ferry all day, so that’s the boat you wanna look for.

Just a reminder it’s fair day on Great cranberry (Wednesday Aug 5th ), and Wednesday’s as general rule are busy days on ferry without having an event going on. We do not do reservations on boat it’s first come first serve. We will do our best to get everyone and their stuff on board and get you where you need be on time, Please be patient with our staff on this potentially busy day, and listen to any instructions they may give you when it comes to luggage, freight, bikes or anything else.

It’s a beautiful day come enjoy a cool ocean breeze and take in the scenic look back view of acadia national park. Enjoy some fantastic lunch at the Seawitch cafe on great cranberry or take it to go down the beautiful whistlers cove woods trail to the beach enjoy lunch with gorgeous ocean views. On way back stop into the local pottery shop done by local artists
