16 DAYS TO HALLOWEEN …It was once popularly believed that if a person died and their eyes remained open, they were looking for someone to take with them to their final destination. This was usually assumed to be someone within the family of the deceased person. To prevent this from happening, they would close the eyes of the dead person and place two pennies on the eyelids to prevent the eyes from opening again. In Greek mythology, a coin was placed in the deceased’s mouth to pay the ferryman to take their soul across the River Styx into Hades.

THE HALLOWEEN WANDERING BUS
Around Halloween time every year there is a bus that is not talked about, it is not listed on any timetable nor does it have a scheduled route. It drives round town in a pattern only known to its driver and perhaps not even to him. Its reader board never displays a number. People that know of it refer to it as the “zero” or random bus or more common..The Wandering Bus.
It is not a bus for people who know where they want to go. It is a bus for departures.
The bus has a way of showing up when you are at your lowest. You will hit your lowest point, feeling a disconcerting crumple in your inner place you thought solid. Just then you look up and see the bus, a block away. You always need to run for it..but just a little, just to show you need it. It will wait. The doors open but the driver does not ask you where you want to go. Most people that ride busses are trying to get somewhere. The Wandering bus is not for them. The riders are the people who need to leave wherever they are at that moment. Just leave.
Some folks say that people have ridden the bus for years on end. There are even a few that claim if you ride the bus long enough you will one day be dropped back before your troubles began.
