Left Handers Day is today, and it doubles as a good excuse for a quick cruising lesson. The left side of the ship is called port, and the right side is starboard. Easy trick to remember it: "port" and "left" both have four letters. Starboard has two r's, a little cue that it's on the right. Small terms like these make the ship feel a lot less confusing once onboard, especially for first-time cruisers still learning the lingo.
