Beginning tomorrow (Sept. 6) Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd., will be closed for annual maintenance through Tuesday, Sept. 15. The building will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Young Engineers Bartlett, Carol Stream, Streamwood invites your kids (ages 6-12) to join them for Bricks Challenge and Algo Play this fall beginning Sept. 14 at Community Center, 777 S. Bartlett Rd. Bricks Challenge offers a hands-on learning experience that combines theoretical and applied knowledge in classical mechanics through building and playing with motorized models.

Algo Play is specifically crafted to introduce students to the world of coding. It offers comprehensive coverage of coding fundamentals including Algorithm planning conditioning loops multithreading debugging race condition sensor applications and much more.

Don’t miss out on a great school year with Streamwood Park District Building Block Preschool! We still have a few spots available for our 2026–2027 preschool year with class openings in:
• Blue School (2.5-year-old)
• Green School (3-year-old)
• Red School (4-year-old)

Registration must be completed in person at Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd. Payment plans are available. Classes start soon! Kids ages 3-12 years old are invited to join the Kiwanis Club of Streamwood for the annual Fishing Derby 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Surrey Woods Park, 560 Ascot Lane. Admission is free. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Awards presentation is at 10:15 a.m. Winners in each age group will be named for largest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught. Winners will receive a trophy, Tiny Tackle and a hat clip.

Bait will be available in limited quantities. All kids must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring your own fishing poles.

REMINDER: Park Place Family Recreation Center, 550 S. Park Blvd., will be closed for annual maintenance beginning Sunday, Sept. 6 through Tuesday, Sept. 15. The building will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

During the closure, all current membership pass holders are invited to use the Fitness and Aquatics facilities at the Bartlett Park District’s Life Center, 700 S. Bartlett Rd., Bartlett. Questions? Contact Park Place Guest Services at (630) 483-3010.
