Day 5 — Toccoa River Swinging Bridge

There are some places in the mountains that are pretty any time of year, but fall just shows off a little more. The Toccoa River Swinging Bridge is one of them.

It is one of the longest swinging bridges east of the Mississippi, stretched across the Toccoa River with nothing but mountains and trees around you. And in the fall, those trees turn every shade of red, yellow and orange.

Now, the bridge does swing. Not enough to send you running back to the car, but enough that when someone else starts walking across it, you are very aware that you are standing on a swinging bridge over the Toccoa River.

It is a little hike, a little adventure and a whole lot of North Georgia fall. Pack some water, wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty, and go see it while the leaves are putting on their annual show.

Leaf it to Us - A 30 Day Fall Guide - Day 4

Fall in the North Georgia mountains is about more than changing leaves. It is also the season for farm stands filled with apples, pumpkins, potatoes, squash, local honey and all the things that make you want to go home and cook something warm.

If you are visiting the mountains this fall, make **Cate Farm Market in Morganton** one of your stops. Right now, their market is full of the season with Osage tomatoes, Golden Delicious and September Wonder apples, Yukon Gold and Mississippi sweet potatoes, cabbage, okra, zucchini, pickling cucumbers and local honey.

And, of course, the pumpkins have arrived! You will find Jack-o’-lanterns for the porch, pie pumpkins for the kitchen and beautiful Cinderella pumpkins that look like fall decorations all by themselves.

There is something about stopping at a local farm market on a cool mountain day, filling the car with apples and pumpkins, and taking a little bit of North Georgia home with you. Cate Farm is one of those places worth adding to your fall wandering.

How to choose the perfect spot to relax... when you have so many choices?

The covered porch looks out over the Etowah River. So does the bank, if you want to be closer to the water. Most guests end up at both before the weekend is over.

Day 3 - A color drive along Aska Road. Some of the best fall color does not need a trailhead at all. This drive climbs and curves through some of the county's most beautiful scenery, often with The Toccoa River snaking beside the road. Roll the windows down and enjoy the red and gold leaves!

Deer wandering around all day. Panoramic views right from the porch. Luxurious beds and linens (even sweeter after a full day of hiking). Central to everything.
