What to have ready before your flight to Africa πŸ¦πŸ¦“πŸ˜

When we confirm your safari, here's everything we make sure you have before you board.

- Full itinerary with specific lodge names and realistic drive times between stops

- Your operator's 24/7 on-the-ground emergency number, not just the main office line

- Travel insurance confirmation with medical evacuation coverage specifically included

- Visa and entry requirements for every country on your route

- A medical brief: vaccinations required, active prescriptions, and the nearest clinic to each camp

If you're traveling during migration season, we'll add a sixth item: which side of the Mara River your camp sits on, and your guide's protocol for river crossing radio updates. That detail shapes your entire time at the Mara.

Bringing your dream safari to life can feel overwhelming, but you aren't doing this alone. ✨

For the team here, it starts the moment your inquiry comes in.

Safari planners, reservations, transport, guest experience, and your safari guide each one plays a role before and during your trip, most of it behind the scenes.

Crocodiles have been on Earth for roughly 200 million years. They outlasted the dinosaurs. They've survived five mass extinction events. And every summer, tourists are genuinely shocked to find them sunning themselves on the Grumeti riverbank like they have nowhere to be.

They kind of don't...

The Nile crocodile is one of the most misunderstood animals you'll encounter on safari. Most people expect movement and drama. What they get is a 600-pound reptile who has perfected the art of stillness. Then, when something does happen, it happens fast.

Watching a croc in the wild changes how you think about patience. πŸ€”

Most travelers can't spot a weak itinerary until they're already inside it...

Here's what to check before you commit:

➑️ Lodge names missing or listed as "similar standard." That's flexibility for the operator, not for you.

➑️ Drive times between camps exceed 4 hours. That's a transfer day, not a safari day.

➑️ No named on-ground emergency contact in the document.

➑️ "All-inclusive" in the headline with a long exclusions list in the footnotes.

➑️ Arrival and departure days both counted as full days. A "7-day safari" where day one is a flight and day seven is a transfer home is actually 5 game drive days.

Save this. Use it when the next quote lands in your inbox.

And if you want a second set of eyes on one you've already received, comment CALL below and we'll send you a link to book a time with our team. No pressure, just a conversation. 🌍

Our team recently completed a sustainability training with Samantha Smits l Sustainable Tourism Consultant l Smits SusTour Consultancy, a sustainable tourism consultant who works with tour operators to make sustainability actionable.

The session covered every department: planning, guiding, operations, and communications. Because all of them are connected.

Here's what that means if you're traveling with us. ✨

Sustainability isn't only what happens on a game drive. A lot of it lives in how we communicate with you before you travel, what information gets passed to your guide before you arrive, and how accurately your expectations are set from the start. When every department is working from the same standard, your experience on the ground is smoother and more consistent.

And underneath all of it: protecting the wildlife, landscapes, and communities that make any of this worth coming for. ❀️

If the way a company operates matters to you when choosing who to travel with, we'd love to have that conversation. Comment CALL below, and we'll send you a link to book a free discovery call with our team. 🌍

The Great Migration is one of the most searched safari experiences in the world. It's also one of the most misunderstood.

People picture constant drama. Wildebeest charging into crocodile-filled rivers, dust clouds, thousands of animals moving at once. That does happen. But not every day.

Some mornings, you sit at the Mara River for four hours, and nothing crosses. Some afternoons, the herd shifts quietly in a direction no one predicted.

That’s not a disappointment, that’s exactly what it is.

The travelers who love the migration most aren't waiting for a highlight reel. They want to be part of something bigger than a single moment. A story that has been unfolding across the Serengeti for thousands of years. They're okay with waiting. They find the quiet days as interesting as the dramatic ones.
If that sounds like you, the migration might be worth building your trip around.

If you need everything to happen on a schedule, there's probably a better fit for your safari.

Comment MIGRATION below, and we'll send you our Great Migration timing guide. It breaks down where the herds are month by month, so you can match your travel window to what you actually want to see. 🌍

There are two ways to book a safari, and most people don't realize how much gets decided for them before they ever land.

On a packaged trip, the lodge, the timing, the pace, even the guide are set before you sign. That's not always a bad thing. But if you've ever wondered why two people can take "the same" safari and come back with completely different trips, this is why.

Six decisions shape every safari. On a custom one, you make all six.

Where you sleep gets chosen around what you actually want to be near, whether that's a remote corner with fewer vehicles or a spot with reliable big-cat sightings.

Game drive timing can shift to follow what's being spotted instead of a fixed 6 am to 4 pm block. On a private vehicle, you decide how long to sit with a sighting rather than leaving when the group does. Walking safaris, night drives, and community visits get built in from the start instead of bolted on as add-ons.

And your guide isn't a stranger you meet at the airstrip. Our planner matches you with someone for a reason and can tell you what that reason is. ❀️

That last one matters more than people expect. A guide who knows the area and reads your interests is the difference between seeing animals and understanding what you're looking at.

You don't have to design all of this on your own. That's what the planning is for.

Green season is one of Tanzania's best-kept secrets. The landscapes are lush, the crowds are thin, and the wildlife is everywhere you look. 🌿

But if you're thinking about going... the time to sort it is right now.

A lot of people hear "custom safari" and assume it means getting exactly what they asked for. A river crossing on day three. A leopard on the afternoon drive. πŸ†

That's not what custom means. And in this clip from our latest Safari Scoop episode, Baraka explains what it actually means, and why that's more valuable than any operator promising you the impossible.

Custom is the difference between chance and intention. It's not a guarantee. It's also not luck. When you understand what that actually means, you ask better questions, and you find a better operator. πŸ‘€

We could show you the highlight reel. The river crossings, the leopards in trees, the sundowners overlooking the crater. And all of that is real.

But the thing our clients actually talk about when they come home? It's not that. It's the morning they sat in complete silence watching a herd of elephants. It's the guide who knew their name by day two. It's the part of the trip where their phone died and they didn't care.

That's the safari worth planning. Not the one that looks best online, but the one that stays with you long after you're home.

If you're ready to start putting yours together, comment BUILD and we'll send you a link to our Safari Builder 🌍
