As long as I can remember I have felt a need to move physically. Therefore, I was drawn to dance, gymnastics, diving and various athletic activities. Over time I realized my need for movement served a very specific purpose….it helped me clear my head, get into a different place, where solutions arose for problems or challenges I was facing. I recognize not everyone is geared

to move physically, however movement whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual is key in creating success. Movement facilitates shifts in perception, increases focus, encourages performance in present time and helps us break free of limiting patterns of thought and behavior. Movement re-energizes the mind, body and spirit. When moving towards a goal or the something that you want in your life; productive energy arises. Learning to channel and utilize this energy is the key to your success. As with anything, the first step requires the most effort because you must choose to step out of your comfort zone. As frustrating as feeling stuck or stagnant can be; it can also be a form of comfort. In fact, many people who think they have a fear of success are actually dealing with a familiarity with failure; in other words a familiarity with repeating the same ineffective patterns. Facilitating journeys out of ineffective patterns that keep individuals and organization feeling stuck and into energizing solutions is at the core of what I do and why I love what I do!

I think we all can agree that stress affects our health and can be detrimental to our bodies. Did you know that simply “hurrying” can cause you stress? Try walking slower, chewing slower, and working at a steady but not frantic pace. You might be surprised to find yourself performing better.

This may be easier said than done, but try to make a point to focus on changing your mindset around it.

Is your mind squirreling around? Discipline it!

Remember, in order to create a better reality, you must first learn to discipline your mind and that requires you to become the observer of how your own mind works.

Life moves quickly and it's easy to become distracted. Disciplining the mind and body involves learning to recognize when you have lost your way, and then refocusing the mind to take positive and productive actions. When thoughts are positive, we are energized and this results in productive action. Learn to be an objective observer of your thoughts. When you feel you have lost your way, observe how your thoughts follow a path of negative thinking. This drains your energy. Learn to acknowledge and recognize these negative feelings as part of the process of learning self-discipline.

Choosing to believe in something when you are not yet able to see it is an action of faith! It is a powerful mindset that successful people choose to practice in those moments when darkness appears to be covering the path. Remember, the path is still there…it is just momentarily being covered by clouds of doubt and fear.

Acknowledge the feelings of doubt and hopelessness, and also acknowledge the belief that you can and will reach your goals! This simple action of choosing to believe even when you cannot see the full picture has everything to do with whether or not you succeed. When it looks like hope is lost, faith is the choice you make to sustain you through the challenges. Believe things will work out for the best and they will!

Your body picks up on the moods and behaviors of others. This ability to pick up on others’ emotional states is relayed to your fight, flight, freeze brain, and it starts reacting to the tension it is perceiving. This is all done subconsciously by the body in an effort to keep you safe, but unfortunately, it doesn't always work.

So, what can you do to avoid catching the stress bug? One way is to start to paying attention to when your body feels anxious or tense. Immediately, begin taking deep breaths as you consciously identify the source of the stress. I like to say when you name it, you tame it!
