Oktoberfest Tampa brings Bavarian tradition to Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park with live music, German food, cold brews, and the Outrageous Bavarian Games. From the Stein Hoist to Mr. & Mrs. Oktoberfest Tampa and the region's largest Beard & Mustache competition, it's a celebration worth raising a stein to. Vote for Oktoberfest Tampa and help us bring home the win!

Oktoberfest was born in 1810 when Prince Ludwig of Bavaria married Princess Therese, and they threw quite the beer-infused party to celebrate. Today, this German festival is recreated in cities across the United States each fall.

Happy National Cuban Sandwich Day! 🥪✨

Here's the truth: the Cuban sandwich was born right here in Ybor City. In the early 1900s, Ybor City was the Cigar Capital of the World, drawing immigrants from Cuba, Spain, Italy, Germany and beyond to work the cigar factories. Those cultures shared a neighborhood... and a sandwich. Ham from the Spanish. Mojo roasted pork from the Cubans. Salami from the Italians. Cheese, mustard and pickle from the Jewish and German communities. All of it pressed between a loaf of Cuban bread.

In 2012, it became the official sandwich of Tampa. And while you can find versions elsewhere, the original recipe, genoa salami included, can be traced straight back to Ybor City's brick streets.

Watch our video "The Identity Crisis of the Cuban Sandwich" to learn how this sandwich became a symbol of Tampa Bay itself, and check out visittampabay.com/food-and-drink/cuban-sandwich for the full history.
