I’m so excited to finally share something I’ve been working on!

I created the Pink Sky Passport Scholars Program as a way to give back to my hometown community and help introduce young people to a world of possibilities through travel.

This year, four high school students ages 16–18 in Americus/Sumter County will be selected to receive funding for their first U.S. passport!

Applications are officially OPEN, and I’m also inviting individuals and businesses who would like to support the program to help us reach our goal of funding all four passports.

Applications close: September 30
Donations accepted until October 15
Scholars announced: October 26

✨ COLLECTED MOMENTS

One of my absolute favorite things to do when I’m at the beach is get up early enough to watch the sunrise. And listen, I know sunsets get a lot of attention, but a sunrise over the water? Unmatched!!!

There’s just something about being out there early in the morning listening to the waves, watching the sky slowly change colors and the sun come up over the water. I love sitting there and taking it all in.

It’s such a simple part of a beach trip, but it’s always one of my favorite moments!

✨ SKY’S WISH LIST

I’ve been thinking about a different kind of trip I’d love to experience.

I want to visit a country and spend a few days really getting to know it—not just checking off the popular tourist attractions.

I want to eat where the locals eat (maybe lol). Explore the neighborhoods. Learn some of the history. Listen to the music. Visit the markets. Try something I wouldn’t normally do. Talk to people. And really get a feel for everyday life and the culture of the destination.

But here’s the other part of my ideal trip…

After several days of exploring, I want a day or two of absolutely NOTHING. Give me a beautiful hotel or resort, (preferably beachfront) somewhere comfortable to sit, a good book, and nowhere I need to be. I’d love that time to slow down and take in everything I experienced before heading home.

So this one is officially going on Sky’s Wish List: a trip that’s part cultural exploration and part intentional rest. Explore and exhale!

What country would you choose for this kind of trip? I want somewhere with a rich culture to explore and a great place to spend the last couple of days doing absolutely nothing. I have a few places in mind, but I’d love to get your recommendations!

Would you believe I’ve NEVER been to New Orleans?! 😵‍💫😂

And the funny thing is, I’ve tried to go more than once. Somehow, every single time I’ve made plans, something has happened and the trip has fallen through. At this point, I feel like New Orleans and I have unfinished business.

There are so many things I want to experience there. I’m not even a foodie, but New Orleans might turn me into one for a few days because I definitely want to experience the food scene. I want to find a great spot to hear live jazz, walk through the French Quarter, and because I’m a fan of The Originals, I’d love to see some of the places I’ve watched on the show.

But I think my ideal first trip would include something else…

A Falcons vs. sAints game!!

If you know anything about that rivalry, you KNOW!!! I’d love to head to New Orleans with other Falcons fans, tailgate, go to the game, experience the city…and hopefully leave with a Falcons win. 🖤❤️🤍

So yes, New Orleans is officially on Sky’s Wish List. I’ve tried before. It hasn’t happened yet. But I’m going to get there! 😂

My birthday staycation has inspired thought about what I desire my future birthday celebrations to look like. I definitely see more solo trips, but I’d love to do a girls trip as well as a romantic getaway when I’m in a relationship again.

I envision my next birthday getaway in Jamaica. Montego Bay or Negril. A nice, luxury resort, authentic jerk chicken, rice, peas, and a beef patty, sunrises on the beach, and reggae music!

My travel business accountability partner recently visited the Botanical Garden and suggested it as an activity since she knew I’d be in Atlanta for the weekend. My cousin decided to join me as she had never been either. We had a great time! It was nice exploring the beauty of the gardens as well as the Niki in the Garden exhibit. There were several pieces placed throughout the gardens. It was a great first visit! I’m definitely going to go back when the Christmas lights are being displayed!
