Similar results in three trips this week. However, a couple 5s showed up late in the week.

Good fishermen got us started with a good outing on Tuesday. That day finesse was a requirement not an option.

I intentionally did not schedule anything on this holiday weekend. It could very well be crowded launches and lakes.

Already preparing for next Tuesday.

Enjoy your holiday

The Week of Wind…

Postponements, cancellations and relocations were the result. After a spring and summer of few weather problems Mother Nature reminded us of her power.

Forced to inland waters on Tuesday we were happy to catch 16 smallies in 5 hours. The north wind was very chilly.

The return to the big lake earned mixed results as three out of seven spots held fish. The five best ranged from 3.90 to 4.87.

Hopefully, next week will allow us on our prime spots…

Note #1 Three good fish not pictured were quickly released because of bleeding—not deep-hooked or from deep water. Likely the virus.

Note #2 We will begin “meat” fishing in October.
(All artificial baits targeting perch, walleye, etc)
Still available dates.

Smallmouth aplenty the past couple days on the big lake…

Good anglers finessed well over 30 smallies on Wednesday and the “unknown angler” had a great day in new areas on Thursday.

I know the calendar shows it is August but my smallmouth are indicating September. And I’m fine with this.

Usually the fall fishing starts after Labor Day.

A week ago we saw glimpses of the “September”
pattern but my last two exploration outings tell me we are in it—totally.

Bigger fish, lots of movement and “barfed” baitfish of all sizes.

5.80 was the biggest with four others around 5 lbs. I’m looking forward to this week’s trips.

A busy week of visiting the big lake and an inland lake.
Fun people enjoyed some good times and endured some slow times. However, several trophies and near-trophies were caught.
A couple fives, several fours, and a covey of threes kept us going.
Lots of fish and lots of pics.

(Thursday was an exceptional day with 22 smallies caught on a half day outing. The September pattern is on.)

New friends battle some wind to catch several smallmouth from three to five pounds.

Three different methods are working but a couple have become consistent this past week. A few days of southwest winds seem to have organized the baitfish.

What we normally do in September is starting to work—a bit prematurely.

Fun stuff continues

A busy week with trips everyday. We’ve worked hard with similar results until Thursday.

Very good smallmouth have come on board daily but our numbers were lacking. Thursday might be a turning point as our total numbers doubled and several fish over 4.5 lbs were caught.

Good fishermen all week…

Thanks to Quiet Cove Baits for the quick delivery of our much needed jigs!

Fun stuff

Bigger smallmouth on a busy Saturday…

These young men had a very good half day outing by boating a 5.15 and 4.95 lb smallmouth.

July’s pattern was nonexistent.
Perhaps on August 1 we potentially have a pattern. We will see…

Pleasant south winds seem to have moved the baitfish bringing some new areas into play.

Even some of our September spots had some fish moving in.

The bass are moving in and out constantly and few places have been good day after day.

After a couple groups of very good fishermen we are finding good quality but not the normal numbers.

Fun stuff!!

Smallmouth gradually putting on weight after a stressful spawn…

With a new area finally producing, these Indiana fishermen did a good job on quality fish.

Like previous trips the average size is up and numbers are down.
