At this time, I am stepping away from Travel Planning. I am in the process of closing this side of my business until further notice. Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, I have had a nearly complete loss of revenue over the last 20 months, although I was still continuing to pay monthly fees for my regular business operations. It has come to a point that it is no longer feasible or economical to do this. With the current travel situation being so fluid, unpredictable, and most of my travel business being international, it is the best plan for now. I did not make this decision lightly. I do not see this being a permanent closure, and I will be reviewing the situation in the future.

If you still have travel vouchers, cruise credits, etc. (from trips only booked through SLATE Vacations - Cruises, Inc.) out there that you need information on, please let me know, and I will advise you on how to handle rebooking your vacation.

I hope to work with you again in the future, whether it be for travel planning, event planning, or other creative projects! Please update my contact information for future reference. I would love to connect with you in any of these ways.

The CDC has released additional guidance to the CSO giving cruise lines two options to resume sailing from the U.S. (95% of passengers and 98% of crew vaccinated OR conduct simulated voyages) …

WHAT WE KNOW....
- The CDC announcement does not provide a specific date on when cruises can resume sailing from the U.S.
- We are still uncertain when cruising will fully begin because the cruise lines need to review the details of the sailing order, come up with a plan and make adjustments.
- The CDC's recent announcement gives cruise lines the option to sail from U.S. ports if 95% of passengers and 98% of crew are vaccinated, or they can conduct test cruises.
- This is positive news for the cruise industry as it means that ships have the ability to sail again soon out of the U.S.
- Once cruise lines can demonstrate successful cruises based on the CDC’s technical guidelines they will be able to move to Phase 3 of the order which includes their certificate to sail.
Simulated Voyages:
For the test cruises, the CDC issued guidance for both vaccinated and not fully vaccinated passengers, however, the cruise lines have not announced what their requirements will be.

Cruise lines should be treated the same as other travel, tourism, hospitality and entertainment sectors. My travel industry friends and colleagues need your help-we are calling on the CDC to allow us to move forward with preparations to responsibly resume operations in the U.S. http://bit.ly/readytosetsail

Over 400,000 passengers having already sailed outside of the U.S. since last summer, we are confident in the cruise industry’s high standards for safe sailing. We encourage the CDC to reconsider the Conditional Sailing Order (CSO) and allow cruising to resume in the U.S. by July in order to help our economy recover.
