Did you know Óbidos was once known as the “Wedding Gift Town”? 💍

For centuries, Portuguese kings gifted Óbidos to their queens as a wedding present. Beginning in 1210, King Afonso II gave the town to Queen Urraca, and the tradition continued for generations. Because of this royal connection, Óbidos became one of Portugal’s most cherished and beautifully preserved medieval villages.

🏛️ Fun Fact Friday: The Acropolis in Athens has been watching over the city for nearly 2,500 years!

While most people know the Acropolis for the iconic Parthenon, few realize that the marble used to build it was transported from a mountain nearly 10 miles away without modern machinery. Even more impressive? Parts of the Acropolis are still standing after wars, earthquakes, and centuries of history.

Standing at the top and looking out over Athens is one of those travel moments that gives you goosebumps. It's a reminder that some places aren't just beautiful, they connect us to thousands of years of human history.
