PSA Announcement from Desk of Trace Travels
I want to take the time to address the misconceptions regarding travel agents, services offered and compensations received.
Using a travel agent is just like using any other professional service, i.e. lawyers, doctors, beauticians, etc...
While our services are offered on a commission base, we profit a very small percentage of what the trip actually cost, sometimes no more than $40 per person.
Some of us do this because we enjoy helping other people but no one likes to work for free.
When you request multiple quotes from a travel agent with no intentions of booking your reservation with them, you are causing that agent to work for free.
Travel agents are certainly not for everyone and it's okay if you choose not to use one.
But for those who can appreciate the value of having your own personal agent whom you can call on the phone, discuss your travel needs and trust that they will be there from start to finish to ensure your trip is amazing, those are the clients who will benefit most from using a dedicated travel agent.
In the future, when contemplating the use of a travel agent, please keep in mind, we are a professional service.
