What is an “international document”?

That question came from my friend Linda after watching our first VP2Go video—and it’s a good one.

Birth certificates. Marriage certificates. Diplomas and transcripts. Powers of attorney. Corporate documents.

They’re documents many of us are familiar with. But when you need to use one officially in another country, there may be another step involved.

That’s where terms like apostille, certification and legalization start to come into the conversation.

⚠️ Travelers entering through Transnistria must register with Moldovan authorities within 72 hours.

"My name is ###x ###xx and I have an emergency passport issue. I had a flight booked tonight to travel to Greece and was denied boarding because my passport expires just before the just 3 month cut-off. I rebooked my flight for tomorrow evening, hoping I will be able to renew my passport somehow. Is this something you might be able to help with, and if so, what would the cost be?"

We receive this email at least once a week. Please remember that most countries require your passport be valid for 3 or 6 months AFTER your planned return date to the United States.

Please open your passport today and look at the expiration date. We recommend that if it will expire in the next 12 months that you renew it.

📢 Document Authentication Announcement for Algeria

Effective July 9, 2026, Algeria joined the Hague Apostille Convention. This means qualifying U.S. documents intended for use in Algeria will require an apostille and no longer need the traditional U.S. Department of State authentication and Algerian Embassy legalization process.

The US Department of State announced that it is preparing a limited release of a commemorative U.S. passport celebrating America's 250th birthday featuring an image of the current President of the United States, his signature, and text from the Declaration of Independence on the inside cover. Between 25,000 and 30,000 of the new passports will be available to applicants at the Washington, D.C., passport office beginning shortly before July 4.

Specific guidance regarding the limited release passports has not been issued by the State Department. Given applications submitted on behalf of Visas & Passports 2 Go, Inc clients are submitted through the Washington, DC passport office, we assume that passports issued to clients beginning shortly before July 4 will be the limited release version.

Visas & Passports 2 Go, Inc will keep clients informed, to include any opt out options, as we learn more.
