Today we’re showcasing two incredible vintage Whizzer motorbikes — true post-war American engineering built on Schwinn bicycle frames out of Chicago, Illinois.

These machines sit in that rare sweet spot between bicycle and motorcycle. Not quite a moped, not quite a full motorcycle… but a legendary hybrid that defined an entire era of affordable motorized transportation in the late 1940s.

The Whizzer Motor Bike Company took standard Schwinn bicycles and transformed them into gas-powered machines that could reach speeds of around 35 MPH while still delivering an unbelievable estimated 125 miles per gallon.
