Camp Meadowood Springs

Camp Meadowood Springs A summer camp experience for children with communication challenges, including speech sound disorder

07/27/2026

This morning, after consulting with Umatilla County Emergency Management, we made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel Session 2 of Camp Meadowood Springs.

While the Hagen Fire continues to show encouraging progress and is moving away from camp, there is still enough uncertainty surrounding future fire behavior that camp remains under a Level 2 evacuation notice. Because of that, we cannot safely welcome campers and staff to the mountain.

This is not the ending to our camp season that any of us envisioned. Our hearts are with every camper, family, volunteer, student clinician, and staff member who was looking forward to making more memories together.

As heartbreaking as this decision is, the safety of our campers and staff will always come first.

Thank you to our incredible camp community for your patience, understanding, and unwavering support throughout these unprecedented circumstances. We are also deeply grateful to Umatilla County Emergency Management, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, and the hundreds of firefighters and emergency personnel who continue working tirelessly to protect our communities.

While we won’t be back together on the mountain this season, the spirit of camp remains as strong as ever, and we can’t wait for the day we’re all back together again, sharing in the Magic on the Mountain. 💚💛

Session 2 Update

After continued conversations with the Umatilla County Emergency Management Department, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Session 2 camper check-in one final time to Tuesday, July 28.

At this time, there is still no guarantee that Session 2 will be able to take place. There remains a very real possibility that conditions may not improve enough for us to safely welcome campers back to Camp Meadowood Springs.

We know how disappointing and difficult this uncertainty is for our camp families, staff, and especially our campers. Every decision is being made based on the recommendations of the people with the most up-to-date information, with one guiding priority: the safety of our campers and staff.

We also want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Umatilla County Emergency Management Department and the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office for keeping us informed every step of the way. Your communication, guidance, and commitment to our community have been invaluable as we navigate these challenging decisions.

Finally, to the hundreds of firefighters and emergency personnel working tirelessly around the clock to protect homes, properties, and communities—thank you. Your courage, dedication, and sacrifice do not go unnoticed, and we are deeply grateful for everything you are doing.

We anticipate sharing one final update on Monday, July 27, once we have the most current information available.

Thank you all for your continued patience, understanding, and support. ❤️

Session 2 Update 💚

After consulting with the Umatilla County Director of Emergency Management and continuing to closely monitor the Hagen Fire, we have made the decision to postpone the start of Session 2.

Our updated schedule is:
🏕️ JCIT Check-In: Saturday, July 25 (11:00 AM–12:00 PM)
🏕️ Overnight Camper Check-In: Sunday, July 26 (2:00–4:00 PM)
☀️ Day Camp Begins: Monday, July 27 (Check-in at 7:45 AM)

A message with this update has also been sent via CampDocs to all Session 2 families.

We remain hopeful to see positive progress on the fire over the coming days and will continue working closely with local agencies. As always, the safety of our campers and staff is our highest priority and will continue to guide every decision we make.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another magical session on the mountain. 💚⛰️

Camper Belongings Pickup Reminder!

We’ll be at IMESD (2001 SW Nye Ave., Pendleton) today for camper belongings pickup.

Thank you again for your patience as we worked with IMESD to create a more convenient pickup location following last week’s evacuation.

If you’re planning to pick up your camper’s belongings today, we’ll be here and ready to help. If you’re unable to make it today, please reach out to us so we can arrange an alternate way to get your camper’s belongings back to you.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue working through the aftermath of the evacuation. We appreciate our Camp Meadowood Springs families more than you know. 💚

07/17/2026

As we close the books early on the first session of Camp Meadowood Springs 2026, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude.

This session didn’t end the way any of us expected, but because of an incredible network of people working together, every camper and staff member was evacuated safely and reunited with their families.

To everyone who stepped up when we needed you most—thank you.

💚 Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office for your professionalism and support throughout the evacuation.
💚 Umatilla County Emergency Management for your guidance, communication, and commitment to keeping everyone safe.
💚 Elgin School District for welcoming us with open arms and providing a safe place for our campers and staff.
💚 InterMountain Education Service District (IMESD) for your support and partnership.
💚 Sara Bortz for making sure our campers and staff had breakfast after a long night.
💚 The Camp Meadowood Springs Board of Directors for your unwavering support throughout the evacuation.
💚 Our incredible Camp Meadowood Springs staff, who remained calm, compassionate, and focused on caring for our campers every step of the way.

Behind the scenes, countless phone calls were made, plans were adjusted, doors were opened, and people showed up without hesitation. It truly took a community to make sure our campers and staff remained safe.

Most importantly, thank you to our families for your patience, understanding, and trust. We know how frightening it was to receive those messages, and we are grateful for the calm, cooperation, and kindness you showed throughout the process.

While this isn’t the ending we had envisioned, we are incredibly thankful that the story ends with what matters most: everyone is safe.

This community reminds us that the magic of Camp Meadowood Springs isn’t just found on the mountain—it’s found in the people who come together to care for one another when it matters most.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. 💚

🌟 Sponsor Saturday 🌟

This week’s spotlight isn’t giant games, craft supplies, or camp traditions—it’s something much less exciting, but absolutely essential: staff first aid kits. ⛑️💚

At Camp Meadowood Springs, our staff spend their days all over camp—on hiking trails, in the meadow during sports and games, on our confidence courses, at the zip line, in cabins, and everywhere in between. To make sure they can respond quickly to everyday bumps, scrapes, blisters, splinters, and other minor injuries, each staff member carries a first aid f***y pack stocked with essential supplies.

These kits help us provide immediate care while keeping campers engaged in activities and having fun. They’re especially important at activities like our two confidence courses and zip line, where first aid support is often needed for minor scrapes and bumps. They’re one of those behind-the-scenes items that most campers never think about—but they make a huge difference every single day.

If you’d like to help support a safe and successful summer, check out our Amazon Wishlist. You’ll find first aid supplies featured in this post, along with many other camp essentials selected by our leadership team.

As always, thank you to everyone who has already supported Camp Meadowood Springs through donations, wishlist purchases, shares, and encouragement. Your generosity helps us create a safe, supportive, and unforgettable camp experience for every camper. 💛

🌟 Sponsor Sunday 🌟

Okay… this week accidentally became Sponsor Sunday instead of Sponsor Saturday 😅 We’ve been busy interviewing amazing staff applicants and reviewing camper applications, which means camp season is officially getting REAL around here! 💚🏕️

This week, we’re highlighting equipment for our favorite field games and outdoor activities! From Gaga Ball tournaments and volleyball games to flag football, tetherball, and so much more, these activities help campers build friendships, confidence, teamwork, communication skills—and of course, have a TON of fun. ☀️🏐🏈

This year, we’re hoping to add and replace some well-loved camp favorites, including:
✨ Gaga Ball Pit
✨ Volleyball Net
✨ Flag Football Gear
✨ New Tetherballs
✨ And many more outdoor activity supplies!

If you’d like to help support the fun and bring even more Magic on the Mountain to camp this summer, check out our Amazon Wishlist! Every purchase directly supports camper experiences and helps us create an unforgettable summer.

🌟 Sponsor Saturday 🌟

This week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of the busiest places at camp… our craft closet! 🎨✂️🌲

From friendship bracelets and painting projects to clinical activities and creative cabin time, our craft supplies are used several times a day all across camp. Crafts are more than just fun at Meadowood—they help campers build communication skills, confidence, creativity, friendships, and memories that last long after camp ends. 💚

By the middle of summer, our craft closet gets pretty picked over, so we’re working to restock camp favorites before campers arrive!

If you’d like to help bring more creativity and Magic on the Mountain to camp this summer, check out our Amazon Wishlist. You’ll find craft supplies featured in this post along with many other camp essentials selected by our leadership team.

As always, we are endlessly grateful for every donation, share, and show of support. Thank you to everyone who has already purchased items from our wishlist—and to those who may support us in the future. Your generosity truly helps make camp possible. 💛
