This morning, after consulting with Umatilla County Emergency Management, we made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel Session 2 of Camp Meadowood Springs.
While the Hagen Fire continues to show encouraging progress and is moving away from camp, there is still enough uncertainty surrounding future fire behavior that camp remains under a Level 2 evacuation notice. Because of that, we cannot safely welcome campers and staff to the mountain.
This is not the ending to our camp season that any of us envisioned. Our hearts are with every camper, family, volunteer, student clinician, and staff member who was looking forward to making more memories together.
As heartbreaking as this decision is, the safety of our campers and staff will always come first.
Thank you to our incredible camp community for your patience, understanding, and unwavering support throughout these unprecedented circumstances. We are also deeply grateful to Umatilla County Emergency Management, the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, and the hundreds of firefighters and emergency personnel who continue working tirelessly to protect our communities.
While we won’t be back together on the mountain this season, the spirit of camp remains as strong as ever, and we can’t wait for the day we’re all back together again, sharing in the Magic on the Mountain. 💚💛
