Whitefish Trail season is here, and the Hit the Trail Challenge is underway.

All May long, log your miles on the Whitefish Trail and help support the work of Whitefish Legacy Partners. Hike, run, bike, ride, or bring the dog. Every mile counts.

Explore Whitefish is proud to be a sponsoring partner for this year’s challenge because the Whitefish Trail is a big part of what makes this place so special, for locals and visitors alike. Supporting the trail means supporting outdoor access, community connection, and the year-round stewardship of the places we all love.

Weekly prizes are up for grabs, with categories changing throughout the month:

May 1–9: Most miles hiked
May 10–16: Most miles run
May 17–23: Most miles biked
May 24–31: Dog with the most trail miles

Start logging your miles at whitefishlegacy.org.

Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park will be open soon enough to cars. Until then, if you’re lucky enough to be here for the in-between, the road is partially open to hikers and bikers as crews work to clear the towering drifts of snow at higher elevation.

Have you been lucky enough to enjoy this special time of year here in Glacer Park?

Link in bio to learn more about riding the road.

Wishing you a happy Earth Day, from this little corner of our big, beautiful world.

We live here, all year long, in a place defined by change. Glacier Park's valleys, once carved by ice, seasons shifting to extremes, month by month, year in, year out. We love this earth, and our small place in it. We're defined by it - by the peaks, the trees, the snow, the water and ice, the fire, or draught. When the climate shifts, we live it, for better or worse.

What could be more important than stewarding the well-being of this place we call home?

Happy Earth Day to you. We hope you'll join us in fighting to care for this beautiful world.

For 2026, there are no vehicle reservations required anywhere in the park, but Logan Pass parking will be limited, and shuttle riders will need advance tickets. We’ve pulled together the key details, including what’s changing, how the shuttle works, and what to know before you go.

Check our site for the update before your trip.
