Oops. Sometime in late November, SOMETHING did a number on our online booking calendar…I’m blaming it on turkey dinner food coma and holiday coziness. In short, the Swee’ Pea slipped off the schedule for the weekend of June 13th-14th. Our bad, but good news for anyone looking to get out on the Sound: boat’s wide open now and ready for 6 fishermen this coming Saturday/Sunday. Call or text 907-440-9510 to claim your spot!

Today we’re celebrating an 80-inch, 276-pound beast landed with Captain Reece and our wonderful deckhand, Vincent. Insanely incredible fish and an even better team effort. Life is taking our crew in different directions this summer, but you can’t beat a good fish tale, and it’s safe to say this one’s for the books. So happy for the whole party and so grateful for the support in all this beautiful chaos! It’s a short, hectic season and moments like these…wow!

Phenomenal fish, the weather we’ve all been waiting for, and very familiar faces today! Kenny S. has been with us since before we even became Whittier Marine, way back from the days when Matt was a captain for another outfit. Captains Paige and Reece have been here, too! They’re heading off into their new careers soon, but they’ve been at the helm for some early runs, and we’re so thankful. And we know how fortunate we are to have groups that return to us year after year…anybody mind if I name drop or feature your history on the water with us? (We just had the long-time Carroll party, too, but my pics were all blurry!) Would love to see your photos from years past, match them with our own, and put them against some current days. Might have to get Matt to pull together a reward or “swag!” Sorry for typos (busy, busy day)!

We may have no control of fuel prices, but we’ll grin and bear it and keep stacking up the memories! We’re running on mass amounts of coffee, the support of a great team of long-time friends, and the love of putting lines in the water! Whittier has been a gift the past few days: glassy mornings, steady smiles, and amazing rockfish on those no‑halibut days. We even snuck in a few minutes of squidding and a lap out to Blackstone for a quick glacier tour. Thanks for being part of it all and hope to get YOU out on the water in the coming weeks.

It’s a No Halibut Tuesday, so of course it’s currently blue sky and perfect weather! Mother Nature has a classic sense of irony…and we kind of have to love her for it. We know gas prices are up, so think local: fresh air, big views, quick drive to Whittier, and great fishing with great people! Captains Reece (this halibut came in on one of his trips!), Paige, Rob, and Matt are ready to get you on the water!
