Hello, I'm Kara, a travel advisor at Castaway Dream Travel, and I just returned from sailing along the Dalmatian Coast with Windstar Cruises. I always believe in experiencing what I recommend firsthand, and I have to say: this cruise changed my perspective.

What I loved about Windstar:
• Every guest stays in a suite. From the moment you step into your suite, you're surrounded by lots of space, privacy, and thoughtful amenities that make you feel like the cabin was designed just for you. I loved the large seating area, his and hers sinks, plush bathmat by the shower, and walk-in closet.
• The yacht carries around 300 guests, which is a nice change of pace from the mega ships. We enjoyed getting to know our fellow travelers over dinners at the main dining room and drinks in the lounge. There were no crowds and no chaos. The pace was unhurried, which made for a really relaxing trip.
• Due to its small size, the ship is able to dock in the heart of cities like Venice, which meant we had more time in the destinations since we didn’t have to take a shuttle into the city. The ports we visited were unlike anything a large cruise ship could access — tucked-away harbors, authentic village squares, and stunning coastal towns. There’s also no fuss getting on and off the ship since you’re not competing with thousands of fellow guests.
• There’s a lot included in the price. All guests have the opportunity to enjoy the onboard specialty restaurants at no additional charge, including the delicious steakhouse. Room service is also included, and the hot breakfast was absolutely delicious. Guests can access the thermal spa throughout the cruise at no added cost. Non-alcoholic beverages like coffee, tea, water, sodas, and juices are included. If you’re looking for even more value, their “All-In Package” includes alcoholic beverages and high-speed WiFi at an additional reasonable charge. And the best part? If only one person in the cabin drinks alcohol, you can purchase the package for one guest. You’re not required to both have the package, unlike with many other cruise lines.
• It felt like an ocean cruise/river cruise hybrid. The intimate atmosphere, beautiful finishings, open top deck, and evening destination talks felt like a river cruise on the ocean.

This is the kind of travel experience that changes how you think about cruising altogether.
