🌽 Savor the season at Market at the Meridian!

The bounty of fall harvest is filling the tables, bringing fresh-picked produce, local flowers, baked goods, handmade finds and all the flavors of the season to the market. It’s the perfect way to spend a Saturday morning—and get a taste of South Dakota’s local goodness.

Every year during the last week of August, Mitchell celebrates its iconic Corn Palace Festival—a fitting tribute to one of South Dakota’s most beloved landmarks. It’s also when The World's Only Corn Palace unveils its newest murals, decorating the exterior with fresh designs crafted from corn, grasses and other grains.

The tradition dates back to the early 1900s, when corn palaces dotted the Midwest as showcases of agriculture and community pride. Today, Mitchell’s Corn Palace is the only one still standing, making its annual celebration a truly unique South Dakota tradition.

The 2026 festival runs August 26–30, featuring live entertainment, carnival rides, food, vendors and local produce. This year’s entertainment lineup brings big-name energy to the festival. Andy Grammer takes the stage Friday, August 28, followed by country hitmaker Cole Swindell on Saturday, August 29.

Celebrate National Park Week in Southeast South Dakota! 🇺🇸

From August 22–30, the Missouri National Recreational River comes alive with nine days of recreation, learning, stewardship and community events in Yankton and Vermillion.

Take a hike at Spirit Mound, paddle the river, enjoy yoga by the water, test your National Park knowledge at trivia night, join a bike ride or lend a hand with a river cleanup. There’s something new to experience every day! 🚴‍♀️🛶
