🛂 PASSPORT 101: BOOK OR CARD?

If you’re finally getting your passport, make sure you’re getting the one that works for the type of traveling you plan to do.

📘 Passport Book
This is the one I recommend for most travelers. You can use it for international travel by air, land and sea.

💳 Passport Card
It’s smaller and less expensive, but it’s also more limited. You cannot use it for international air travel.

So if you’re planning to travel internationally and want the most flexibility, I’m Team Passport Book. 😂

Don’t wait until you find the trip you want and then realize your documents aren’t ready.

Go ahead and get that passport handled so when the opportunity comes, you can say LET’S GO! ✈️😂

Y’all know we’re cruising on a BRAND-NEW Carnival ship in 2027…but every time I learn something else about Festivale, I get a little more excited. 😂🚢

Now let’s talk FOOD. 👀

🍝 Fetaccine — fresh pasta dishes with Italian flavors, and it’s INCLUDED.

🌺 Uku Lei Lei — island-inspired dishes with Hawaiian and Polynesian flavors, also INCLUDED.

🍤 Emeril’s Coastal Seafood — seafood inspired by coastal flavors from around the world. This one is additional cost.

And y’all…that’s not even all the new dining coming to this ship. 😂 At this point, I’m starting to think our 6 days may not be enough to eat, explore AND do everything Festivale has to offer!

🛂 PASSPORT 101: Getting Your FIRST Passport

Okay, we talked about why I recommend having a passport… now let’s talk about how to actually get one. 👀

If you’ve never had a U.S. passport before, you’ll generally need to apply in person using Form DS-11.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

📄 Proof of U.S. citizenship
This may be an eligible birth certificate, Certificate of Naturalization, or another accepted citizenship document.

🪪 A valid photo ID
Such as a driver’s license or other accepted government-issued identification.

📸 A passport photo

📝 Form DS-11
Complete the application, but don’t sign it until instructed to do so at the acceptance facility.

💳 Passport fees
The amount depends on whether you’re applying for a passport book, passport card, or both.

📍 Now, where do you go?

Personally, I find the Post Office to be one of the easiest options. At locations that offer passport and photo services, you can have your photo taken there, and the acceptance agent can review your application and documents before everything is submitted.

One less thing for you to figure out on your own! 😂

Just make sure you check that your Post Office offers passport services and whether you need an appointment before you go.

And remember: always verify the requirements that apply to YOU through the official U.S. Department of State.

🛂 PASSPORT 101: “But I’m Going on a Cruise…”

One of the questions travelers ask all the time is:
“Do I really need a passport if I’m cruising?”

The answer can depend on your cruise, itinerary and citizenship. Some cruises may allow U.S. citizens to travel with other acceptable documents.

But here’s the part I don’t want you to overlook:

If something unexpected happens while you’re outside the U.S. and you need to FLY home instead of returning on the ship, having a passport book can make a BIG difference.

That’s why I recommend getting your passport instead of waiting until a trip forces you to think about it.

And pleaseeeee don’t wait until your vacation is around the corner to start the process. 😂

🚢 CRUISE COMMUNITY — LET’S TALK SHIPS

Some people pick their cruise based on the destination.

Other people pick it based on the SHIP. 😂

And with some of these newer Royal Caribbean ships, the ship can practically be the vacation.

Waterparks, neighborhoods, shows, restaurants, activities…you could spend the whole week exploring and STILL not do everything.

I’m curious which type of cruiser we have in here:

A — Give me the BEST ship. I don’t care where we’re going. 😂

B — The ports come FIRST. The ship is just getting me there.

I’m probably somewhere in the middle because I want a nice ship AND some good ports. 😂🚢

👀 DIY OR CALL BWA? — THE GROUP TRIP

Y’all ever notice how a group trip starts with:

“WE ALL NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE!”

Everybody is excited…until it’s actually time to book. 😂

One couple wants a balcony.
One wants the cheapest room possible.
Somebody needs a payment plan.
Somebody still hasn’t sent their information.
One person wants insurance.
Somebody found a “cheaper price” online.

And somehow ONE person in the friend group ends up keeping track of everybody. 😭

Can you book the trip yourself? Absolutely.

But sometimes the real question isn’t can I book it myself?

It’s do I WANT to handle all of this myself?

That’s where a travel advisor can come in. Instead of making somebody in the group the unpaid trip coordinator, you have someone helping keep the travel details organized.

Sometimes DIY makes perfect sense.

And sometimes… CALL BWA. 😂
