Spring has arrived a little early in the Weskus, known as the Flower Capital of South Africa, with the first wildflowers are already starting to make an appearance. As the winter rains give way to warmer days, the province is transforming into a spectacular tapestry of yellow, orange, pink, purple and white.

From the iconic blooms of West Coast National Park and Darling to the breathtaking landscapes of Biedouw Valley, Clanwilliam, Cederberg and Nieuwoudtville. There is no shortage of colourful adventures waiting to be discovered in the Weskus.

Peak flower season runs from August to early October, making now the perfect time to plan your spring road trip into the region.

More than just a beautiful display, flower season supports local guesthouses, restaurants, farm stalls, tour operators and attractions, helping communities promoting tourism experiences to also "bloom" across the province.

Pack your camera, hit the open road, and experience South Africa's most colourful season in the Western Cape.

𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🌍✨

Cape Town has officially claimed the top spot as the world’s most beautiful city in travel media company Time Out’s 2026 global rankings, following votes from more than 24,000 people worldwide.

The Mother City impressed on all fronts, with an incredible 86% of Capetonians themselves calling it beautiful - putting it ahead of global icons like Edinburgh, Sydney and Paris.

From sunrise hikes up Lion’s Head to golden sunsets over Camps Bay, Cape Town’s mix of mountain, ocean, vineyards and historic neighbourhoods continues to deliver the kind of views that don’t need filters.

As noted in the ranking, beauty is about unique character and Cape Town clearly has it in abundance.

Proof, once again, that the rest of the world is catching up to what locals already know.

Witness one of nature’s greatest wonders as the Southern Right Whales return to the Western Cape waters. Whale season is officially underway, running from June to November, with peak sightings between August and October, making now the perfect time to plan your visit.

Visit iconic coastal towns such as Hermanus, Kleinmond and surrounding areas, where whales can often be seen just offshore from scenic cliff paths and viewpoints. It remains one of the best land-based whale-watching destinations in the world.

Did you know? The famous Hermanus Cliff Path stretches for about 12 km along Walker Bay, giving visitors uninterrupted ocean views where whales can often be seen breaching just metres from shore.

This incredible show of nature is more than a spectacle, it is a celebration of marine conservation success and the beauty of our ocean ecosystems.

The Overberg coastline is calling you to come slow down, breathe in the ocean air, and witness this unforgettable display of nature.

Table Mountain remains one of Cape Town’s most celebrated attractions, a cultural landmark to city and one of the seven wonders of nature. Famous for its flat-topped summit, home to the Cape Floral Kingdom, hiking routes, and cableway experience, it continues to attract millions of visitors each year.

A new development at the summit has introduced a universal access pathway, created in partnership with South African National Parks. This improvement enhances accessibility for wheelchair users, families with prams, and visitors with limited mobility.

The project reflects a growing commitment to inclusive tourism, ensuring that more people can experience the beauty of Table Mountain.

This is a meaningful step forward for inclusive tourism, where natural beauty and accessibility go hand in hand.
