If you are beginner with a keen interest in w**e, the W**eFairy will take you through the different styles and varieties while travelling through some of the most scenic parts of the w**elands. The "w**e inclined" will enjoy visits to top w**e estates, delving into the minds behind the w**es while enjoying the fruits of their vines. "W**espeak" with a sense of humour and an element of fun, yet retaining the educational value and exclusive approach, and enhancing the enjoyment and pleasures of w**e.

It’s time to expand our palate and knowledge base, who’s Hungary?

Hungary Uncorked | June 1–9, 2027

Tokaj has been on my radar for a very long time.

There’s something rather irresistible about a w**e region whose written appellation laws date back to 1730, and whose volcanic soils produce Furmint with a character that is distinctly, wonderfully its own.

But before we get to Tokaj, we’re heading south to Villány, Hungary’s red w**e heartland. Think serious reds, beautiful old cellars and a w**e culture that deserves to be explored slowly.

And that’s exactly how I want to do this journey.

We’ll taste properly, with context and stories. We’ll walk through the Öreg Király vineyard, visit Barta W**ery in Mád, head underground at Oremus, and share some rather special meals along the way.

And I may have saved the best for last: a dinner I’ve been quietly planning since we confirmed the itinerary. ✨

This is one of the things I love most about what I do: getting to host a journey around the places, w**es, food and experiences that make me curious, and then inviting a small group of people to come and discover them with me.

Katie Barratt, W**e Educator, Journey Director, and the woman behind the W**e Fairy name, describes standing outside the cellar doors at Meerlust Estate on a sweltering Cape afternoon. The doors open slowly, the cool air rolls out, the light catches the dust, and something changes.

She was in her twenties, still figuring out what she wanted from life. The Cape W**elands answered the question for her in a single, unhurried moment.

What followed was a career built entirely around recreating that feeling for other people – in cellars, around long tables, and in conversation with the w**emakers and producers who carry generations of story in what they make. It’s the kind of access that comes from twenty-plus years of relationships and glasses shared with the right people.
