Cape Winelands Airport

The final appeal against the Cape Winelands Airport development has been dismissed, meaning the project can now move ahead.
While the appeal was ultimately unsuccessful, it was certainly not a worthless exercise. The process resulted in additional environmental mitigation measures being introduced, helping to ensure that development and environmental responsibility are better balanced.
This is often how public participation should work. Even when objections do not stop a project, they can still improve the outcome.
