Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has announced that the government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is committed to addressing the country's economic challenges.

He confirmed plans to finalize the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and three power distribution companies before the end of 2024. This statement follows the recent postponement of PIA's privatization deadline to October 31, attributed to low bidder interest and ongoing legal issues.

Additionally, the government aims to privatize more state-owned enterprises (SOEs) as part of a rightsizing policy, with the Pakistan Stone Development Company and Pakistan Automobile Corporation identified for potential privatization.

The Emirates Group awarded its employees a bonus equivalent to 20 weeks of salary, reflecting record-breaking profits.

Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum expressed gratitude for their dedication, stating they deserve every dirham.

The workforce increased by 10% to 112,406 employees. Last year, a bonus equivalent to 24 weeks' salary was given.

The group reported a record profit of Dh18.7 billion, marking a 71% increase.

Both Emirates and dnata saw significant profit and revenue growth, with a cash balance of Dh47.1 billion, the highest ever reported.

Looking ahead, Emirates plans to expand operations with new aircraft acquisitions and talent recruitment.
