🇺🇬 Uganda has officially been declared Ebola free.

The mandatory 42-day monitoring period has been successfully completed, with no new cases reported. Following the discharge of the last patient on 16 June 2026, the Ministry of Health has officially declared the outbreak over.

This means Uganda remains open, safe, and ready to welcome visitors from around the world. From unforgettable gorilla trekking experiences and breathtaking landscapes to incredible wildlife and warm hospitality, there has never been a better time to discover the Pearl of Africa.

Packing them in checked luggage could result in:

✈️ Travel Update: Addis Ababa Transit Requirement

If you’re travelling through Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, please take note of this new requirement.

A Health Declaration is now mandatory for ALL passengers travelling via Addis Ababa – including those who are only transiting.

✅ Even if you remain airside and do not pass through Ethiopian immigration, you are still required to complete the online Health Declaration before your journey.

For example, if you’re travelling to Europe via Addis Ababa, this declaration is required, even if you never leave the transit area.

Please note: This is a new requirement. Travellers who passed through Addis recently may not have been asked to complete it before.

From 1 July 2026, all travellers entering or leaving South Africa must submit their traveller declaration online before they travel.

The new system forms a mandatory part of the Customs process to declare goods, currency, and other items in your possession.

Here is what you need to know to stay compliant and avoid delays:
⏱️ When Must You Complete It?
Within 24 Hours: You must submit the online declaration no more than 24 hours before departure from your origin country.
Connecting Flights? If you have stops along the way, it must be submitted no more than 24 hours before departure on the last leg of your journey directly to South Africa.
Don't wait until you arrive at the airport!

📋 What You Will Need
A valid Passport or Travel Document.
Active contact details (email and/or mobile number).
Details of any goods, currency, or other items you are bringing or taking.

📧 What Happens Next?
Once you complete your declaration online, a confirmation will be emailed directly to you.
This email contains specific, step-by-step instructions on what to do when you arrive at your relevant port of entry (land, sea, or airport). Make sure to save it to your phone or keep a copy handy!
