Not every student has their future figured out at 17. Some know exactly what they want to study. Others change their minds weekly.
And some quietly feel overwhelmed by all the pressure around “what’s next?”

That’s why career guidance should never be about putting students into boxes. We take a holistic approach by combining psychometric insights, interests, aptitude, personality, and academic results to help students understand themselves better and explore careers that genuinely fit who they are.

Because clarity changes everything. Explore our Career Guidance Assessments: https://scholastics.co.za/

Most hiring decisions are made from what people show in an interview.

But the real question is: What happens when pressure kicks in, complexity increases, or the role demands more than technical skill?

That’s where psychometric assessments come in.

They help organisations look beyond first impressions to understand things like problem-solving ability, leadership potential, interpersonal style, resilience under pressure and real role fit.

Today, the Omnicor team traded our usual shoes for our slippers in support of Reach For A Dream Foundation Slipper Day!

The campaign raises funds to support children fighting life-threatening illnesses, and we are so honoured to play a small part in making this initiative a reality.

This year, our OD team decided to take part in the "Take a Girl Child to Work Day", an initiative inspired by the global "Take Our Daughters to Work" movement and proudly championed in South Africa by since 2003.
We had the pleasure of hosting Noria Chauke, a Grade 11 student from Dainfern College, for a day of job shadowing, and what a day it was. Noria spent time with our experts across organisational development and psychometric assessments, and even sat in on real client conversations, giving her a genuine window into the world of Industrial Psychology.

In her own words:
"I learned a lot about not only the job and expertise, but also about myself. I'm very grateful for the opportunity." That reflection captures exactly why we do this.
"Take a Girl Child to Work Day" isn't just about showing what we do. It's about helping young women see themselves in spaces where their curiosity, insight and ambition belong, and reminding them that those spaces are theirs to step into.

Thank you for spending the day with us, Noria. We can't wait to see where your journey takes you.

Most leaders don’t intentionally ignore feedback. But sometimes the instinct to explain it away becomes stronger than the willingness to truly sit with it.

In this article, we unpack why culture surveys often lose momentum once the results come in — and what leaders can do differently to turn feedback into meaningful change.

Because gathering feedback is one thing. Listening to it well is another.

Most companies sit on two data sets that could sharpen each other. Almost no one connects them.

Psychometric assessments live with hiring teams. Engagement surveys live with leadership and OD. They get analysed separately, reported to different audiences, and rarely meet, But the question worth asking is right there in the overlap: which traits keep showing up in your most engaged people?

Here's what we found when we tried this with one of our clients. We looked at their existing psychometric data, brought it together with their engagement survey results, and looked for the patterns. Four traits stood out - as shown in the image above.

This is not a claim that hiring for these traits will lift engagement scores. That would need a different kind of study. What it does give you is a clearer picture of what engagement looks like in your specific environment - and a more informed way to inform how you weight the assessments you already use in your hiring process.

The bigger opportunity isn't a single analysis like this one. It's building people analytics into how your organisation makes decisions across the employee lifecycle - assessment, engagement, selection, development, all working off the same evidence base.

That's the work we do. If you're thinking about what end-to-end people analytics could look like in your organisation, we'd be glad to have that conversation.

“What should I do after school?”
For many students (and parents), that question quickly turns into uncertainty. Some children know from the get-go, while others are still figuring things out, and that’s okay. We believe every student deserves a future filled with meaning and direction. If you’re not sure where to start, let us help you: https://scholastics.co.za/

Is labour relations a legal discipline or a psychological one? After spending a day observing live matters at the CCMA, I’ve realised the answer is both. Behind every case file is a person navigating one of the most stressful moments of their career.

I’m Coral Ponnadu, an IOP Intern at Omnicor, and here are my five key takeaways from my time in the hearing room, including why empathy and procedural fairness are the most important tools in a practitioner’s kit.

As part of my Industrial Psychology internship at Omnicor, I recently had the opportunity to observe two live CCMA matters. It was one of the most meaningful learning experiences of my internship and I wanted to share what I took away from the day.
