Coffee Bay is a town on the Wild Coast of the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa. It is located about 250 kilometres south of the city of Durban and has a population of 258 people.

The town is named after the hundreds of coffee trees which grew from beans either scattered by a shipwreck or by plunderers. A holiday resort in Tembuland is located 80 km south-east of Viedgesville. It can be reached via a turn-off from the N2 highway.

The Mthatha River has its mouth near Coffee Bay.

The Drakensberg meaning Mountain of the dragons. The Sesotho speaking people call it “Maloti” and the Isizulu speaking people call it “Ukhahlamba” meaning the barrier of spears. This is the largest escarpment in South Africa divided into three sections, the Northern, Central and the Southern Drankensberg and it is a world heritage site. It boasts about the highest peak at about 3482 metres above sea level, “Thabana Ntlenyana”. The “Khoi-san” history dating back to about 40000 years ago. “The san rock art” It is home to the most impressive cliffs on planet Earth the “Amphitheatre” and the world’s second tallest falls, “Tugela falls” Mount Aux source form part of this escarpment where several South African rivers originate Tugela river being at the forefront.
