Madikwe Hills Private Game Lodge has always been a firm favourite of ours and our Lewis & Luyt travellers, so getting a sneak peek of the newly renovated suites has us very excited for what is still to come.

The essence of the lodge remains unchanged, still private, peaceful and closely connected to the surrounding landscape, while the suites now feel more elevated and refined.

This is just a preview, with the main lodge areas and Little Madikwe still to come, and honestly that is what we are most excited about. We are eagerly awaiting the next phase so we can return and experience the full transformation in person.

✨Spotlight on Sediba Sa Rona ✨

There is something really special about a place that honours its past while feeling completely new and fresh and Sediba Sa Rona does exactly that.

Newly rebuilt and opened in March 2026, this beautiful lodge sits in the Khwai Concession, right on the edge of the Okavango Delta. Formerly Khwai River Lodge, it has been completely reimagined into a more elevated, contemporary space while still holding onto that classic safari charm.

Think open, airy spaces, uninterrupted views over the floodplains, and wildlife quite literally on your doorstep. The game viewing here is exceptional year round, with a mix of land and water based activities, and some of the best predator sightings in Botswana.

It is one of those places that feels easy and relaxed, but still delivers on every level.

You hear it before you see it, the roar of The Smoke That Thunders rising into the sky. Victoria Falls is raw, powerful and completely unforgettable.

The Falls are currently at their fullest after a big rainy season, usually peaking from February to May. Dramatic spray that leaves you absolutely drenched, endless rainbows, and that unmistakable thunderous energy.

On the Zimbabwean side of the Zambezi, just upstream from the Falls, Palm River feels like a calm retreat after all that power. River views, golden sunsets and that effortless, relaxed elegance we love.

Set on a quiet bend of the Luangwa River, Chinzombo Camp by Time + Tide is one of those places we can’t stop thinking about long after leaving. The villas are stunning, the setting feels like a sanctuary, and the game viewing, often right from camp, is incredible. But for us, it’s the little touches that really make it special.

Back in November, we spent a few amazing days at Madikwe Hills, the final stop on our Madikwe Game Reserve trip and we are only getting around to sharing it now (better late than never 😉🐾🐘).

Elephants in front of camp throughout the day, views as far as you can see, golden sundowners, a guided walking safari and a birthday breakfast that felt very bush-appropriate. A quietly special place, and the perfect way to wrap up our time in Madikwe.
