The Johannesburg Garden Club celebrates its 75th anniversary this year with its annual Open Garden on 17 and 18 October, opening up a beautiful private garden in Inanda to the public.

This horticultural gem has been carefully nurtured with winding paths, mature trees, roses and a charming blue-and-white planting scheme. The club also hosts a pop-up market with plants on sale, pre-loved treasures, garden finds, wine, bubbles, smoked salmon, tea and cake. There’ll also be a live band on Sunday at midday to set the mood. The weekend is all in aid of Joburg Child Welfare.

Paint, sip and escape into the story of Namibia’s majestic baobab trees.

Photographer Petya Bartosch is hosting a relaxed, creative afternoon at Steyn City Gallery inspired by her Healing Hands exhibition and photographs from the most remote corners of Africa. The experience takes place at Steyn City Gallery on Saturday, 19 September from 3pm.

As Petya shares stories from her travels and insights into the Ju/’hoansi’s extraordinary knowledge of nature, you’ll be guided step by step in creating your own beautiful baobab painting.

No painting experience needed, and your ticket includes all art materials, expert guidance, light refreshments and a glass of wine.

SEAN PAUL IS COMING TO SOUTH AFRICA IN DECEMBER 2026

Millenials rejoice! The voice and energy behind some of the biggest party anthems of the past three decades is heading our way for three huge live shows. Global superstar Sean Paul is bringing chart-topping hits, dancehall energy and plenty of nostalgia for his South African tour in December 2026.

Here in the North, the big night happens on Friday, 4 December at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria, plus shows in Cape Town and Durban.

From Get Busy and Temperature to We Be Burnin’ and his era-defining collaborations, Sean Paul has soundtracked generations of dancefloors around the world. The South African shows will also draw from his latest album, Frozen Charlotte.

We’re nearing the Johannesburg season launch of Prima Facie, a powerful production by award-winning playwright Suzie Miller that asks tough questions about the legal system, how gender factors into all of it, and the road to redemption. This hugely successful, hard-hitting one-woman play comes to The Market Theatre for a decent run from 17 September to 4 October.

Director Neil Coppen’s staging fuses the singular performance with moody lighting and design to craft a story where one can draw so many parallels within the South African framework.

They’re serious about showcasing wine labels that specialise in a forward-thinking approach to winemaking, while putting wine lovers in direct contact with the brilliant minds of the local wine scene.

This time around, you can look forward to over 20 niche winemakers and producers taking up space to pour both new and rare releases. Confirmed wineries include Three Quarters, Saltare, McFarlane Wines, Pounding Grape, Tembela Wines and many more.

ROCK ICON, JACK WHITE IS COMING TO JOHANNESBURG IN DECEMBER!

One for the books! 💙

News just dropped that Jack White will be bringing his acclaimed live performance to local audiences for two shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town. The Grammy Award-winning musician, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist will perform at The Old Park Station in Jo’burg on Friday, 11 December, before heading to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town on Monday, 14 December.

Drawing from a remarkable career spanning The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and his acclaimed solo work, White’s South African shows promise plenty of raw guitar, distinctive vocals and the uncompromising energy that has made him such a compelling live performer. He’ll also showcase material from his latest album, Frozen Charlotte.

Limited tickets will be available for both shows, with capacity capped at 3,000 for the Joburg concert. Laylo presale tickets go on sale Tuesday, 8 September at 10am SAST, with general public tickets available from Webtickets on Wednesday, 9 September at 9am.
