UK Entry Requirements for South Africans

South Africa will be off the UK Red List from 11 October 2021!

Fully vaccinated South Africans (only approved vaccines) can travel to the UK needing only the following:
• a valid visa; and
• a valid passport; and
• a valid vaccine certificate
You will also need to:
• Book and pay for a day two COVID-19 test to be taken after arrival in England
• Complete a passenger locator form in the 48 hours before arrival

Kulula is Back - Now What?

kulula Airlines has finally announced that they are coming back on 1 December 2020!

Which routes will they fly?
They are easing into it with all domestic routes operational from 1 December 2020 excluding their Lanseria flights and their Durban - Cape Town route. The airline will slowly return to normal with a 7-month ramp-up period coming to an end in June 2021.

What if you booked flights for December that aren't being operated?
Customers who booked prior to 5 May 2020 for travel with Comair in December 2020 and who are affected by the new schedule will be re-accommodated and advised accordingly by kulula.com.

What happens to those who held kulula tickets for travel between 14 March - 30 November 2020?
You can use the value of any unused ticket towards future travel (with restrictions). This value will be allocated to a kulula Travel bank account, which can be used to pay, or pay in part, for a future flight booking with kulula.com.

• International travel is only allowed to and from the three main airports: King Shaka, OR Tambo, and Cape Town International Airport.
• On arrival back into South Africa, travelers will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours from the time of departure.
• Where a traveler does not have written proof of a negative COVID-19 test, they will be required to remain in mandatory quarantine at their own cost. Some airlines may refuse to board you.
• All travelers will be screened on arrival and those presenting with symptoms will be required to remain in quarantine until a repeat COVID-19 test is conducted.

President Ramaphosa announced the opening of the South African borders from 1 October 2020. This does not mean that travel has resumed unrestricted.

South Africa requires a negative COVID PCR test from everyone entering the country and won't accept leisure travelers from certain countries. You have to consult the so-called 'red list' to find out which travelers are affected when traveling to South Africa. This list gets updated approximately every two weeks.

In addition to this, travelers should ensure that they meet the entry requirements of their final destination before booking. This will in most cases include a negative COVID PCR test that isn't older than 96 - 72 hours (timelines vary according to country) before departure.

Also keep in mind that some airlines are releasing and selling flights on routes that haven't necessarily been approved by the required governments. This can lead to flight cancellations after booking, which is why you need to check the cancellation policy of your flights before booking.

If you book international flights on FlightSiteAgent, you should be sure that your client meets all the entry requirements and has suitable travel insurance. By booking, you accept all liability and any potential costs related to any changes that may be required for your booking due to any changes in policy by South Africa's or any of your international destinations. Most airlines have flexible policies, but it is your responsibility to check this before booking.
