Hello,

My name is Brandon, the creator of Travel like a local South Africa. I am a 30-year young man living in Johannesburg with my wife, Caitlin.

I grew up in the tropical jungle of Westville in Durban for 24 years. Where I schooled, made great memories, hit the beach every weekend and enjoyed the troops of Vervet monkeys running through our yard every late afternoon and never got tired of the Yellow-Billed Kites and Fish Eagles that soared above us.

If you haven’t noticed yet, I am super passionate about South Africa. I dream of a South Africa that is fair and offers equal opportunity for all of our beautiful people.

I love the outdoors and a good adventure. This is where my primal instinct feels most comfortable. If I had to choose, the beach is my favourite place to be. I am not afraid of hard work, and I truly believe South Africans are the most resilient beings on the planet.

At the moment, I am working full-time for a sports television graphics company but my dream is to be an entrepreneur in tourism celebrating South Africa.

My goal is to move back to KwaZulu-Natal on the North Coast where we will manage a tourism centre offering accommodation, road trips around the country, learning centres and to build a community that provides opportunities and economic growth for our people.

I am here to support local. South Africa is rich in minerals, resources, creativity, amazing minds and hard work ethic. It is time we take ownership of that and use it to build our country, working towards a more sustainable South Africa.

Travel like a local in South Africa is my baby that I have been working on since 2018. I started building the brand online on Instagram and Facebook. Now, I am booking tours and accommodation for guests locally as well as abroad. I have always had a passion for building great trips for myself and now I find myself enjoying spending my time building trips for others.
