White-fronted Bee-eaters… and their very unglamorous spa day

I recently watched a group of White-fronted Bee-eaters frolicking in the sand in The Zambezi National Park - Zimbabwe.

It looks like play—but it’s actually essential maintenance.

They take dust baths to clean their feathers, while removing excess oil and dirt, getting rid of parasites and keeping their wings in top flying condition!

It’s a full social event—fluffing, fluttering, and generally making a mess in the most organized way possible.

Easy to miss on safari… but once you notice it, it’s one of those small bush moments you don’t forget.

A Day in the Life of an OWL Safaris Agent (and the honest truth behind it)

Ever wondered what an OWL Safaris “office day” looks like?

One minute it’s Victoria Falls Safari Lodge cocktails at sunset… the next it’s a boat crossing over the Zambezi to a remote island camp… and somewhere in between I’m pretending this is normal work.

The truth is, we don’t just sell safaris—we spend time in the places, feel the rhythm of them, and then tell you honestly what they’re really like.

And here’s the part we don’t dress up...Not every safari lodge is for everyone.

Some are lively and full of energy, some are quiet and remote, and some sit comfortably in between. The job isn’t to convince you everything is “perfect”… it’s to help you find what actually suits you.

That’s the bit we care about most at OWL Safaris.

Planning a safari or Island retreat? Let’s make it personal, not generic. Get in touch and we’ll match you properly!
