Ravens in Yellowstone!
Just saying, these guys are neither ghastly nor grim. They will, however, unzip your bags, tear into backpacks, and beg for food. Don’t let them have any!

Wolves of Yellowstone!
I cannot get over how beautiful they are.
Sometimes it is hard when you're in the moment, photographing animals to absorb the details of what you're seeing right at that time, and really enjoy what you're seeing.
It's easy to get stuck behind the lens and not actually take it all in. I feel like I was worried about this the second I saw them. I didn’t want to miss anything. As I sat there watching them, I could not get over those eyes. It was initially the first thing that really stood out to me when I spotted them that made me realize they were wolves. And the sweet sound of their howls. I was surprised how calm they sounded, almost soothing.
I have had a few really incredible encounters this year, though I am not sure anything tops this one.

Sunrise drives through Yellowstone camera at the ready!
One of the cubs felt a little threatened. Momma bear not so much, very aware not one bit scared. Keep your distance. Be bear safe, and keep them wild.

These foolish people are standing, and some were even sitting on the ground, right at the Madison river edge by the bison carcass with a wolf just on the other side of the river, deciding if it is worth swimming over to have a better lunch.
The river isn’t that wide!
