LATEST INNOVATION - NEW APPLICATION FOR ACRYLIC - Diamond Walk, Sandton City.
Sandton City's new dazzling R185-million wing, aptly called the ‘Diamond Walk’ is home to some of the world’s largest luxury brands, including - Louis Vuitton megastore, Dolce & Gabbana, Jimmy Choo, Burberry and Gucci and not forgetting the world’s largest Prada store - 800m².
It is along the stretch of walk way between the Sandton Sun Hotel and the InterContinental Johannesburg Sandton Towers hotels, that we have creatively installed a mixture of hi Hi-Gloss Acrylic and ceramic tiles, to add an element of sophistication and elegance to the walls, replacing the former wooden wall covering.
This 100m walk way combines PLEXIGLAS® Silver/white, Titan (light grey) and Mocca (brown) Acrylic sheeting, cut and pieced together in a design, which compliments the theme of this prestigious address.
Robyn Gering, Director of Magma Acrylics says: ”I am thrilled at the final result of this decorative wall cladding, as this is a new area of specialisation for us. Architectural installations are giving us the opportunity to stretch our use of the application of acrylic, which is very exciting”.
Sandton Cities skywalk was the second such project for Magma Acrylics, the first installation was the reception desk at Atrium on 5th in Sandton City, where a combination of 10mm and 6mm PLEXIGLAS® Satinice was used to create a floating fin effect around the reception desk structure.
