It’s official. Plans are well underway for the repair, improvement and reinstatement of this classic gravel pass north of George. R80m has been approved for the project to commence. Katberg Tour / Day 1
We were almost back at base, when about half our guests took the option to walk down to the Madonna and Child Waterfall in the Auckland Nature Reserve.

A message was sent out on the Whats App group that one of our guests had slipped and twisted (or broken) his ankle.

We had an inflatable medical boot which we sent down with some helpers from the hotel, whilst I activated the local Hogsback Emergency Services run by the very capable Tonya, who arrived at the trail head within minutes, armed with 8 strong youngsters and a rigid stretcher.

They worked in reiays carrying the patient out of the gorge.

We had the patient, Charles Ge**er (the youngest member in the group) , safely back at the car park within an hour and he has been taken through to the hospital in Alice for Xrays and further treatment.
