People often ask me, “When’s the best time for a game drive, and how do you know what to look for?”

For me, it starts with the tracks. Early in the morning, we check the roads for fresh tracks to see which animals have passed through and which direction they were heading.

The sounds of the bush give us clues too. Knowing how to read those tracks and which sounds to pay attention to comes with years of experience. There’s a lot happening around you before you’ve even spotted an animal.

Honestly, this was a once-in-a-lifetime sighting!

On a recent safari we came across two honey badgers taking on a leopard. This isn't something you see every day, and it was truly special.

That's exactly why we always say no two safaris are ever the same. Every drive is different, every sighting has its own story, and sometimes the bush gives you something you'll talk about for years.

We came across the Vurhami pride on a night drive during one of our recent trips.

Got to watch one of the females head off to collect her cubs and lead them back to the group, right next to the vehicle. This pride is close to 20 strong including the resident males, with three different litters in it at the moment: 7 months, 4 months and 3 months old.

I may not be the best videographer, but you can definitely count on me to get you the best sightings.

When the Queen of Crocodile Bridge decides to take a stroll, you simply wait your turn.

This gorgeous lioness sauntered straight down the H4 like she owned every inch of it, and honestly, she does. Moments like these are exactly why a Kruger safari never gets old. One minute you’re driving along, the next you’re holding your breath as a lioness ambles past your window, completely unbothered by the traffic she’s just created.

This is the magic of the bush, you never know what’s waiting around the next bend.

Right there on the side of the road. 🦁

A big male lion, completely unbothered, giving us one of those sightings you don’t forget quickly.

On our latest safari the group stayed inside the Kruger Park and were lucky enough to head out on a night drive between Lower Sabie and Crocodile Bridge.

Not long into the drive, we came across a group of lionesses - an incredible sighting and such a rewarding moment for our clients.

Seeing lions at night is always special. The bush feels completely different after dark, and when you come across a sighting like this, it is even more rewarding.

At the end of July, I had the privilege of taking a small group on safari, and the bush certainly delivered.

The cats were incredible and out in full force, giving us some unforgettable sightings.

But the real treat was the wild dogs.

Seeing African wild dogs is special enough. Seeing them with their pups was something else entirely.

Wild dogs are one of Africa’s most endangered carnivores, so every sighting feels like a privilege. Watching the pups interact with the pack, full of energy and curiosity, was easily one of my favourite moments of the trip.
