Early detection:

Being vigilant and listening for noises in your transmission can save you huge amounts of money, most failures are caused by faulty bearings or lack of lubrication, and there are always tell tale signs that can be detected by a vigilant driver.

1) A whistling noise emanating from the gearbox.
2) Drops of oil on the floor where your vehicle parks
3) grating sound when you change gears

If you have had a Gearbox Failure you have probably heard the term Driver abuse? it sounds terrible and clients get up in arms when they hear it. in reality driving in 5th gear under a 100km per hour constitutes driver abuse, and i'm sure almost every body is guilty of this at least once a week!

By driving your car in the correct gear at the correct speed you can prolong the life of your gearbox.

3 teeth broken is a sure sign of driving too slow in 5th.

Very few people are aware that you can prolong the life of a gearbox and diff by doing a cheap oil change every 10 000KM There is not one manufacturer that even has it on their service schedule, The fact are that most failures could have been prevented if a oil change had been done.
