PACD is running an interactive Drumming for all 60 schools in all 3 provinces 20 schools per province that will cater for groups of 100 students. Each and every participant will be given a Djembe Drum to play and they will also be given an opportunity to create various sounds of musical genres through Drumming, Clapping, Stumping and therefore creating an Orchestra of Sounds. The groups will be gu
ided by an acclaimed Facilitator and backed by 12 well trained musicians. The sessions will take 45 minutes to an hour to transfer skills and capacitate youth / students with the basics of indigenous African instruments and the heritage of Drums history. The power of drumming in a group is enormous as it breaks down barriers, creates an incredible bond within the team as a whole and will make the event an unforgettably extremely exciting experience. This project will work with 20 schools per province and develop and empower 2000 students per Province, for all 3 Provinces we will empower, equip and capacitate 6’000 students in the whole country. The students will transfer skills to their respective local Arts and Culture groups. In addition to this, +/- 4’000 children and youth from all 3 Provinces (GAUTENG; EASTERN CAPE; NORTHERN CAPE) will benefit from this project. PACD aims to leave a lasting Legacy and mark in the schools we will be designated to; hence the 20 Djembe Drums and Marimba sets will be left as an inheritance and donation to all the 60 schools to promote heritage and indigenous cultural music. We will buy One Thousand Two Hundred (1 200) Djembe Drums and Sixty (60) sets of Marimba. The project will be allocated more on the rural, underprivileged and poor communities.
